Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management, the New School
Nidhi Srinivas is Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management at the New School. Over the past 10 years he has studied a variety of civil society organizations and their uses of management practices, including in India, Brazil, the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China. He holds a Ph.D in strategic management from McGill University and has published research on NGO management, critical theory, management practices, professional identity, and civil society organizations, in well-known journals.
From 2009 to 2012 Nidhi was an India-China Research Fellow and studied social innovation initiatives in rural India and rural China. In summer 2013 Nidhi was awarded a fellowship for a comparative study of civil society in BRICS cities. In Rio de Janeiro he visited different neighborhoods and met with local NGO leaders during this time, to understand the protests against the World Cup and Olympics by local citizens groups.. Currently he is working on a book manuscript on the management of NGOs which studies how management practices can support local-level political awareness and civic democracy. During summer 2014 he is an Erasmus Mundus Research Fellow at Roskilde University in Denmark.
