Hon Jenista Joakim Mhagama

Member of Parliament, United Republic of Tanzania

Honorable Jenista J. Mhagama (MP) was born in 1967 at Peramiho in Ruvuma Region. Currently she is a Member of Parliament for Peramiho Constituency and Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Honorable Jenista is a Teacher by profession obtained a Diploma in Education on Curriculum Development and Programme Planning from Korogwe Teachers College in 1990. She has served at various capacities in Public Service. From 1991 to 1997 she worked with The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training as a Teacher and with Ruvuma Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) as an Instructor and Regional Vocation Training Coordinator. In 1997 she has worked as a Trainer with The Ministry of Work and a Member of Tanzania National Task Force Team on Teachers Professional work and teaching requirement for improving National Education.

In 1999, She Studied Entrepreneurship course at The International University College of Turin (ILO) Centre in Italy and thereafter, worked on Curriculum Review on Entrepreneurship Training for Vocational Training Centers in Tanzania. She has also worked as a Secretary to Ruvuma Women Savings and Credit Funds.,
In politics, Jenista has been active, member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi-CCM (Revolution Party) in various position; was a member of CCM Youth League in 1994,. CCM Women Wing Ward Chairperson in 1995. A member of parliament through women’s special seats from 2000-2005.From 2005 to date she has been a CCM Member of Parliament for Peramiho Constituent, Presiding officer of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania and a member of the Party’s Central Committee. She has been working as a Secretary for The Ruling Party Parliamentarians Party Caucus under the Chair ship of The Prime Minister of The United Republic of Tanzania.

In January 2014 she has been appointed by His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete,The President of The United Republic of Tanzania to become a Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training.
