Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Zopa
Giles Andrews is co-founder and executive chairman (having been CEO from 2007 to 2015) of Zopa, the world’s first P2P lending business. Zopa is disrupting retail financial services by providing better value and service to consumers and has now made more than £1.5bn of loans in the UK, with over £600m lent in the last 12 months alone. It has won numerous awards for service, including MoneySupermarket’s “Best Personal Loan Provider” in 2016.
Giles previously co-founded Caverdale in 1992 and took it to a £250m revenue motor retailer, sold in 1997. After an MBA at INSEAD he ran his own consultancy business, with large clients in the General Retail and Financial Services sectors, and which also provided start up advice and early stage funding for new businesses, until co-founding Zopa in 2004.
Giles is also chairman of Bethnal Green Ventures, the accelerator for start-ups using technology to make social or environmental impact. He holds an MA in experimental psychology from Christ Church, Oxford and received an OBE in the 2016 New Year’s Honours list for services to financial services.
