Dr Alan Fowler
Dr Fowler is an emeritus professor and adviser to NGOs on the capacity and functioning of civil society in international development. His professional experience bridges diverse institutions including the Ford Foundation, consultancy firms and the World Bank. He is a co-founder of the International NGO Training and Research Centre (“INTRAC”) and past board member of Civicus, the International Alliance for Citizen Participation. He has designed and run master classes on organisational change, leadership and management with NGOs across the world. Dr Fowler has held academic appointments at Oxford Brookes (Oxford, UK), Erasmus University (the Netherlands), and the University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa). His many publications on NGO issues include required readings in post-graduate programmes.
