Director of the Latin American Centre, Associate Professor in the Political Economy of Latin America at the University of Oxford and Governing Body Fellow of St Antony’s

Diego Sánchez-Ancochea is Director of the Latin American Centre, Associate Professor in the Political Economy of Latin America at the University of Oxford and Governing Body Fellow of St Antony’s. His research concentrates on income inequality, structural transformation, development models and the political economy of development in Latin America. Together with Juliana Martínez Franzoni, he has published the monograph “Good Jobs and Social Services: How Costa Rica Achieved the Elusive Double Incorporation” (Palgrave McMillan, 2013) and will publish another one on universal social policy in the South in Cambridge University Press this year. Diego Sánchez-Ancochea is also the co-editor of four books and a special issue and has published papers in international journals like Latin American Research Review, Journal of Latin American Studies and World Development. He is the co-editor of the Journal of Latin American Studies and Region Head at Oxford Analytica.
