Daudi Khamadi Were is the Executive Director at Ushahidi (www.ushahidi.com) a global technology company whose mission is to change the way information flows in the world. Founded in Nairobi, Kenya in 2008, the Ushahidi Platform has grown to be the world-class tool for crisis and humanitarian response, election engagement, service delivery monitoring, human rights monitoring and much more. Prior to this he was the Director of Innovation at Ushahidi responsible for Making All Voices Count, a USD 55m global initiative that supports innovation, scaling-up, and research to deepen existing innovations and help harness new technologies to enable citizen engagement and government responsiveness. Were has over the last 16 years supported human and social rights defenders across the globe to harness the power of technology, data and information strategies and tools to bring about positive change in their communities. He provides technology and strategy support to several high impact grassroots and international organisations and sits on the UNDP Innovation Facility Advisory Board, Africa Advisory Board of Global Philanthropy Alliance and the board of Youth Against Cancer Kenya.
